What is a “Groupthink Demise?”
Groupthink Demise began as a duo in Tallahassee, Florida, consisting of Brooks Johnson and George Frichter. After adding several other members, it became a full-fledged garage band that never really made it out of the garage. Meanwhile, Brooks and George kept writing and recording original songs. GD eventually kinda morphed into a studio project (like The Alan Parsons Project with a Southern accent). In comes digital music services like iTunes and Amazon, and hookup services like Tunecore- and homemade musicians can suddenly distribute their own music quite easily. The problem- Brooks and George have FT jobs and are not performing live anywhere. Then some private investigators came sniffing around, and George had to leave town. GD became pretty much a Brooks Johnson solo project- but with George often in the mix somehow. Next conundrum was how to promote the music in order to become a multiplatinum selling, Grammy Award-winning act. Hence, this website. The name: long story short, it means “think for yourself.”
